Donuts – who doesn’t LOVE donuts. Or is it “doughnuts”? (Does it really matter HOW it’s spelled?)
While I was on a work assignment in Marina Del Rey, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this haven of pastry goodness.
DK’s Donuts is a small shop located at 1614 Santa Monica Blvd in Santa Monica, California 90404.
Upon entering the shop, immediately to the right, a gigantic clear display case houses hundreds of delicious sweet goodness! The bright lights illuminate these frosted donuts perfectly. Look at the photo below!
I had been here twice in two days – and have tried several of these. The maple bar with the strip of bacon was delicious! I prefer my bacon a little less cooked (not burnt!) but it wasn’t that bad, to my surprise. The Mini Peanut Butter Chocolate Reese’s Donuts was out of this world! Both donuts were fluffy and soft.
I even ordered one of those glazed donuts with Fruity Pebbles on top! Crazy good! Sweet and reminiscent of watching Saturday morning cartoons and eating a bowl of cereal! They even have Cookie Crisp, Lucky Charms, and Cinnamon Toast Crunch!
As a fan of ube (purple yam), I was excited to see their ube-frosted donuts too! I got two – one with pistachios and another with chopped bacon! DEVINE!
If you find yourself in Santa Monica (or even Venice or Marina Del Rey) – find some time to visit DK’s. You will NOT regret it! They also serve hot sandwiches, made to order as well.
